This is the release of the first in a series called Splitsville—a collaborative project between bands and artists, in which (rather than recording and releasing a split 7 inch) download codes for brand new songs are imbedded on the back of a nice art print provided by a local or regional artist and offered for a reasonable price. This first incarnation will feature songs by Astronomers and New Boss, paired with a print of a painting by Dave Moore . During the event, Dave will be showing the featured painting and some other work, the bands will rock, and they will be joined by pals International Friendly.

Alternately titled “Snake in a Fez”, this painting was probably always destined to be involved with music—an album cover, a full back tattoo, etc. Among the more idiosyncratic images in a lifetime of idiosyncratic imagery, Dave thinks the snake seems more weirdly southern-gothic for the fez tassel being a palm tree.
